Just today I noticed a little whitish bump on my betta's tail. It looks like it's right where the fin starts. Any ideas of what I should do, before anything gets worse?
I've had him about a year - he's in a five gallon filtered tank all by himself....

Re: little bump on his tail
Thu, March 1, 2007 - 6:14 PMDoes it look like a grain of salt or sugar... or more like a pimple that hasn't come to a "head" yet? If you can post a clear pic of it, I may be able to tell you if it's a ICH spot or the beginnings of a tumor. The former you can treat, the latter is a little tricky.. but you can make him more comfortable, at least. If it's neither of these, I'll have to dig around for info... these two things being the most common occurences in "bump" fashion. -

Thu, March 1, 2007 - 7:31 PMyou know, it's weird - it looked like a white head, but on his tail - then he seemed a little more tired that day, but the next day it was gone. Now he has something white on his gill, but it looks like a scale or something. So yay, he is suddenly fine! -

Keep an eye out for any unusual stuff, just in case. Sounds like he's fine, though. :o)
